How to Prepare Coconut Water Kefir
You can prepare a homemade coconut water kefir in three methods:
- Use a kefir starter culture
- Use existing kefir as a starter
- Use kefir grains
We recommend the method of using kefir grains since it’s the most economical one as they quickly multiply so you will always have kefir grains on hand. You’ll need to supply kefir grains, either milk or water kefir grains). They are available here on Amazon.
- 1 Ceylon cinnamon stick
- 5 tbsp. of water kefir grains
- 7 cups of fresh coconut water
In a ½ gallon jar pour the fresh coconut water, and add the water kefir grains together with the cinnamon stick. Cover the jar loosely and let it stay for 48 hours, but no longer than that. Keep it in mind that it shouldn’t ferment for too long since it may explode.
When the coconut water gets fermented, its color will become lighter. Once the kefir grains are finished culturing, they will come up to the surface. Remove them when the culturing process is finished. You can either store the kefir grains in water in fridge, or use them right away for a new batch.
That’s it. An easy way to improve your health in so many ways!
